Diets for Diabetics
February 18th, 2010I’ve often wondered what diabetics can and cannot eat. I thought that diabetics could not eat sugar. But according to the Mayo Clinic, this is not true. Diabetics need a healthy diet, as unwanted calories and fat will translate itself into higher blood sugar levels. A diabetes diet is a healthy-eating plan that’s naturally rich in nutrients and low in fat and calories. In fact, it’s the best eating plan for everyone. Diabetics need an eating program that essentially stays the same as eating a great variety of food can make it hard to control the glucose in the blood. Persons with diabetes need to consult with a dietitian in order to learn how to make the right choices of food in order to maintain a good blood sugar. But this won’t work for everyone. This will not keep people from needing shots of insulin. It may however, keep the blood sugar controlled.
