Lawyers are not all good

September 2nd, 2010

Recently one of my family members has had to make a claim of injury while on his job.  Subsequent x-rays ordered by the workman comp doctor showed pinched nerves in both elbows.  The workman comp doctor said no surgery was needed and that he could return to work with no restrictions.  This condition is so painful that he cannot even pick up his young son, to whom he is very attached.  He can not play with him, it hurts to drive, to comb his hair and to perform various bathroom chores. He can lean his arms on his desk and use his fingers and some of the mouse but other than that he can not do any kind of hobby and even had to give up his online education.

For this reason, if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with Mesothelioma, a deadly incurable disease, you will need to find a highly reputable lawyer to bring about Mesothelioma lawsuits.  These lawsuits are necessary to the patient in order to make sure that he or she will receive every type of care possible in the effort to fight this disease.  Find a good lawyer who will fight to the end.

Sailors Need Love Too

June 1st, 2010

Sailors and other seafaring employees once had no recourse from their employers if they were injured or killed on the job.  But in the 1920’s a new law titled the Gulf Coast Jones Act was developed in an effort to assist employees in obtaining compensation for their injuries and their families for when the employee died.  Before that time there was no law that definitely stated who was liable.  And as with many other employees, seeking legal representation is almost a given.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it again…

May 14th, 2010

Insurance companies really suck.  Both my husband and my son have recently received denials on their requests for workman comp and/or job disability claims.  And today my husband found out that a co-worker’s flood claim had been denied.  WTH?  They just moved into their brand new home less than two months ago and the guy bought flood insurance, even though their home is not in a ‘flood area’.  We had a flood here, just like a lot of other places in Kentucky and Tennessee.  Their house was flooded.  What’s so hard to understand about that?  I do not see how the insurance company can say they aren’t covered and they won’t pay for their losses.  I just do not understand this kind of treatment.  My son was diagnosed with pinched nerves in both arms but the employers workman comp doctor said he was fully able to work with no restrictions.  He can’t even play with his son any more or do any other hobby to help pass the time, yet they think he is just fine?  My husband’s employer insurance company denied his disability claim.  He has degenerative disk disease, cervical arthritis (or arthritis of the spine), bulging disks (again no big deal according to doctors), bone spurs and fibromyalgia.  Normal movements required in many jobs such as reaching, stretching, squatting, bending, all cause severe pain.  His whole body hurts.  His doctors have done all kinds of tests and have given him narcotics and other medicine.  These medicines make it impossible for him to work.  In order to work he has to take less of an amount that would actually help the pain, and every day he was coming home from work paler and paler, wishing he could just die because of the pain.  It’s just not right.  Aetna, you suck.
