Now is the time to do some upgrading in your home.  Freshen the place up, especially if you are planning on selling, but even if not, making your home look even better.  Check out some new kitchen blinds and something a little bit more modern.  People have the tendency to buy window treatments and then just let them sit there forever, never considering that their treatments could be outdated.  Are yours?  Start looking at what your friends and acquaintances windows are wearing.

All I’ve heard about from my daughter is ‘have you seen the Ipad yet?’  Well I went to apple.com and looked at it but of course the price is extravagant.  I could buy another laptop, and a higher quality of one for less than this thing costs.  But from looking around on the Internet I have found that the Ipad has many detractors.  Here’s a rundown of the iPad’s failures right out of the box. No Flash support.  This means no Youtube, no Facebook games and no lots of ’something else’ including many web pages including news pages which use flash for their videos.
No USB2 ports: You can’t even save something to a flash drive or back it up to an external hard drive. You can’t hook up a USB printer. You can’t even attach a USB mouse or keyboard. No hdmi, so this is the only monitor you will be able to use, no projector hookup option.  There is also no camera with this thing.  What?  No camera?  It comes with an LCD screen instead of an LED screen which uses more memory.  Add to that a battery which cannot be replaced, just like the Iphone.  I think Apple did that to see an increase of repair income. No OS-X: This device runs a glorified version of the iPod software, NOT a stripped down version of the full Mac Operating System used in the real Mac PC’s.  Oh well.  I can’t recommend it.

My granddaughter was assigned homework of writing an essay about a family tradition.  This was a little hard because we really don’t have any.  The most I could say was that we cook the same meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I told her that she could start a family tradition for her family when the time comes.  Sometimes it’s just something like having a certain food on Friday, or getting together once a week to play cards.  What does your family have for your tradition?

I’ve never been anywhere other than the Bahamas, but even then didn’t consider the fact that if something happened to me over there, that my medical insurance company wouldn’t cover it.  I’ve read that medical treatment overseas is much less than it is in the states, but even so, a major operation or treatment could still run into the thousands.  Most insurance companies won’t cover you out of the country.  What would happen if your luggage got lost, other than being inconvenience.  Would your insurance pay for it’s replacement, and which insurance company would that be?  A lot of my family members have been traveling to Cancun, but I’ll bet it never entered their mind to get travel insurance either.  The Travel Insurance Center ca show you the different kinds of insurance that you may need while out of the country, as well as helping you to find the best values for them.  They are an accredited business and as you may realize, these companies can’t stay in business should they steer you wrong.  That won’t happen with this company and it would be a very wise idea to go and visit them before you make another trip out of the US.

In 2005 I applied for  social security disability while living in North Carolina, but was turned down.  While thinking about filing the appeal, my family moved to Kentucky.  I thought you had to reapply in a different state, so I didn’t file the appeal and I lost thousands of dollars of past payments.  Well, this is absolutely normal for me to do something like that; I am so ignorant about many things.  But had I gone ahead with my appeal, I would have sought out an attorney, because that is usually the only way a lot of people can be successful in their applications.  Because funds are so low in Social Security, I’ve heard that they turn almost everybody down the first time they apply.  A company called Allsup has a 98% success rate with getting people approved.  They also have 25 years experience doing so.  Federal law stipulates how much money an attorney will receive for helping you get approved and all of them do not ask for money up front.  They don’t get paid unless you win, and this is a great motivator for them.  Good Luck with your efforts and don’t give up.

I have a nephew who coaches little league softball and of course he always needs  softball trophies. A good place to find these is at QuickTrophy.  QuickTrophy has all of the usual types of trophies to hand out such as ribbons, medals, dogtags, and many different kinds of regular trophies to choose from.  And of course they have trophies for other sports as well.  Instead of handing out the same old trophy season after season, look through their awards and choose something different each year.  The same old trophies year after year has got to get old after a while.
